My husband is my best friend and my world, says Sunny Leone

If there’s one word that finds its way in her vocab often, it’s ‘amazing’! But then again, it really is a word that sums up the international adult film star Sunny Leone’s journey to being accepted as a Bollywood heroine, as well as her reaction and those of the naysayers. Refreshingly candid, Sunny who returns to India today, gives us a glimpse of what makes her tick. The excerpts:

How has life changed after the success of Jism 2?
It has been really amazing. I didn’t think that the movie was going to do as well as it did. I never thought in a million years I would be a heroine in a movie. In less than a year’s time, all my dreams of being an actor are coming true.

When you were offered Bigg Boss, did you see it as your ticket to Bollywood?
My motivation was the offer itself; things like this might only be offered once-in-a-lifetime. I believe when opportunities come your way, you have the choice to take the risk or stay comfortable in your life. But it’s always the risks in life that bring you the success you want. I had nothing to lose at that moment, and I was really scared too. But the love I received from the people of India was absolutely amazing.

Have you made any friends in the film industry yet?
I’m in touch with Pooja Bedi and Juhi Parmaar, who I met on Bigg Boss. I have only made friends with people that I haved worked with or am currently working with. Unfortunately, I have not had the chance to meet celebrities in Bollywood and make friends. I believe that will happen in due time.

You participated in a lot of cultural events on your last visit to India, including Gokulashtami. What was the experience like?
Gokulashtami was so amazing. I have never seen so many people in one celebration. I swear every event that I go to gets better and better. I would like to experience everything that I can in India, but one event that I have always wanted to be a part of is Holi. For everyone who lives in India this is something that comes every year, but for me it’s a once- in-a-lifetime opportunity to see what the whole world wants to be a part of.

You are often seen accompanied by your husband (Daniel Weber) at events. Is it deliberate?
My husband is my best friend and my world. There is no better person in the world I would want to have by my side wherever I go. We share these moments together and enjoy them. If I have to go to an event without him, it’s never the same.

Sherlyn Chopra, the first Indian to feature on Playboy, said that you ‘have not set a new benchmark for adulterated erotica’ just because of your background...
Well, she didn’t say it to me so I am not sure about that comment, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It’s great that she is in Playboy and I can’t wait to see the layout. I am sure that she looks very pretty; Playboy makes sure that every girl looks beautiful.

If offered would you take Playboy on their offer?
I have been offered to be shot for the magazine many times in the past, but because I am (rival adult magazine) Penthouse Pet of the Year, it doesn’t work out.

Now that you’re on the roll in Bollywood, are you planning to shift base to India?
Yes, I will be looking for a place to live. I have been travelling back and forth to India that it’s becoming too much to carry six bags and not have a place to live. It’ll be exciting to house-hunt during this trip to India.

I will work with anybody: Anushka Sharma

Bangalore gal Anushka Sharma doesn't like being labelled glamorous. The actor, who's hot property after the success of her film Band Baaja Baaraat says, "It's one of the most abused words, it's just about pretty clothes and good makeup."

The actor, who's a rom-com regular with her girl-next-door image, is, meanwhile, all set to get pulses racing with her hot new avatar in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. But while she will sizzle on screen with barely there clothes, the actor has in recent times come under fire for her almost anorexic look. "I'm genetically blessed. I don't have to work hard to lose weight. I'm just toning up for a healthier look," she says. And her wardrobe in the film, styled by designer Aki Narula, is in keeping with the look of the film. The film is set in Goa, where everyone dresses down. So throughout the film you will find us in loose pyjamas and rather inexpensive clothes," she says.

In the film, the actor plays Anushka an ambitious, quirky and interesting character.
Is it true that she's on a long-term contract with a top production house (three of her four releases were produced by this banner)? " No I'm not. I will work with anybody. Fortunately, I'm getting to work with A-listers. And Aditya Chopra has a lot of respect for my talent. If he finds me good enough for a script, then so be it."

With the good work she gets to do, the four-film-old actor also has to deal with the other side of the glam world — rumours and controversies. But Anushka's learnt to take things in her stride. Link-ups with co-stars, especially, Ranveer Singh don't rattle her anymore. "It's become fashionable to generate buzz through link-ups. The funny part is that I have been linked with all the married stars. I'm friendly with my co-stars and have a healthy relationship with them. Some of them are really nice and protective. But I don't lead my life according to what people say," she states.

Films apart, live performances are also keeping Anushka busy these days. She was in Hyderabad recently, along with other B-town biggies like SRK, Priyanka Chopra, Rani Mukerji and Ranveer, to perform at the wedding extravaganza of Mallika Reddy, business tycoon GVK Reddy's granddaughter. "This is another aspect to an actor's life," she laughs and adds, "We are entertainers at the end of the day. However, the quick-footed actor just doesn't shimmy at any wedding. "I choose where I perform and dance only where I'm comfortable," she says.

'Adulterated' fun earns big bucks for Bollywood

MUMBAI: After braving a five-month financially dry spell in which cricketing extravaganzas (World Cup and T20) eclipsed all things Bollywood, audiences are back in theatres and films are raking in moolah. Adult certification is no longer a deterrent as has been proved by the success of Delhi Belly and Murder 2.

The second-half of 2011 has been good for the film industry so far with Delhi Belly netting Rs 36 crore within a week of hitting the screens and Murder 2 earning Rs 7 crore on Day I of its release. Amitabh Bachchan starrer Bbuddhah Hoga Tera Baap, which holds a U certificate, is turning out to be quite a crowd-puller too and has raked in Rs 9.75 crore in the first week.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra said, "Delhi Belly and Murder 2 have changed the popular perception that adult certification prevents people from going to theatres. Irrespective of the fact that the content of today's films is debatable, people are thronging cinema halls."

Despite the use of cuss words and abusive content, Delhi Belly is moving towards attaining the status of a cult youth film. Murder 2 has had a successful week at the box office even though it was dubbed a "dark and sadistic" film.

Komal Nahata, also a trade analyst, said, "Only one section of film-goers is criticizing the films. Those who like them are lining up at cinema halls."

Independent distributor Suniel Wadhwa said, " Aamir Khan has once again proved his marketing genius with Delhi Belly. Bbuddhah Hoga Tera Baap fetched Rs 13.50 crore for satellite rights."

The first half of 2011 will be remembered as one of the biggest dry spells for the film industry. Three and a half months of cricket ensured that a few big films released during this period. The combination of cricket World Cup and IPL kept film-goers away from cinema halls and Bollywood had to make do with poor revenue. But reception of movies released just before and after the cricketing season was encouraging with films like Tanu Weds Manu, Haunted, Faltu, No One Killed Jessica, Double Dhamal, Yamla Pagla Deewana and Ready doing well at the box office.

Wadhwa said, "Salman Khan's Ready collected Rs 119 crore in the domestic market. This is nearly 40% of the total business in the first half of 2011."

I am innocent, conviction a stigma: Maria Susairaj

MUMBAI: Maria Susairaj on Saturday sought to convince the media that victim Neeraj Grover's body had not been chopped into 300-odd pieces after the murder, a rare instance of a convicted criminal brazening out a public defence of her act.

Susairaj's press conference came after a day spent in Mumbai 'darshan', which included a visit to St Michael's Church in Mahim, aborted attempts to visit the Mahim Dargah and the Siddhivinayak temple, and being tailed by the media through her drive from the island city to Thane and back.

But the media briefing, which was supposed to be Susairaj's show, degenerated into a free-for-all after friends of Grover, the man killed in May 2008 at a Malad highrise, descended on the Press Club in south Mumbai, forcing Susairaj to seek police protection by the end of the day.

Susairaj and her lawyer Sharif Shaikh sought to clear the air over the number of pieces Grover's body had been chopped into after the murder. "The prosecution had said that both Maria and Emile Jerome (who was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment) had cut Grover into 300 pieces, but according to the photograph taken by the investigating officer, Satish Raorane, it is clear that the rib cage, skull and legs are intact at the place of the offence, where the body was supposed to be burnt," Shaikh said.

At the same time, Susairaj also put in a line of sympathy for the Grovers. "I feel sympathy for his family as losing somebody in the family is not easy. This whole scenario is sad," she said. The attempt at sympathy was promptly met with derision by the Grovers in Kanpur. The 30-year-old refused to comment on her relationship with Grover, and played down the importance of her fiancee, Jerome, in her life. "I have not had a word with him..." She insisted that she shared "no friendship" with Jerome.

Even as she was being bombarded with questions from the media, Grover's friends protested loudly. "Maria is a killer", they shouted. At one point, a protestor inched his way to Susairaj, and lawyers and media persons jumped to her rescue and ordered them to leave the venue. She quickly regained her composure: "I haven't faced so many people in the last three years I was in jail. It is still not digested...I cannot be cool after being in jail for three years and 41 days."

She refused to comment on the case and repeatedly said: "All I know that is I am innocent. I don't want to comment anything about the law. I have left the past behind. I have not yet realized what is happening. I have not digested the stigma that I have been convicted."

The chaos at the Byculla women's jail set the tone for the day as onlookers and mediapersons armed with cameras gathered at the entrance waiting for Susairaj. The police had to be called in to control the crowds.

Amid the growing frenzy, her lawyer requested the police to allow the private vehicle — a white Honda City — into the prison grounds as he feared for his client's safety. At 11.35am on Saturday morning, Susairaj clad in a brown floral salwar kameez, stepped out of the jail with a police escort. A constable at the gate shook his head in wonder and said "It is only on rare occasions that a private vehicle is allowed on the prison premises."

At that moment, the gates opened for an ambulance, which the waiting crowd thought was a decoy. A closer glance revealed that the ambulance was ferrying Malegaon bomb blast accused Sadhvi Pragya Thakur to a hospital. But on Saturday morning, all eyes were trained on the Kannada actor.

The moment the white car carrying Susairaj, her brother Richard and an associate lawyer rolled out of the prison gates, the media gave chase. The vehicle sped towards Worli and took the Bandra-Worli Sea Link only to return to St Michael's Church at Mahim.
Later at the press conference, Susairaj explained her need to visit the church instead of leaving the city as initially planed. "For three years I haven't seen the door of a church. I had to go to show that I was grateful and thankful. I have always felt close to God and I believed in God. I reconnected." She was also scheduled a visit to the Mahim Dargah and Siddhivinayak temple, but decided against it and took the Western Express Highway to Thane in an attempt to shake off the media. Once the coast was clear, she quickly headed to her lawyer's office at Bandra Kurla Express.

About her future plans, Susiaraj said, "I am not going to decide anything for myself anymore. Let my family decide everything. I have put my past behind me. I have spent three years and 41 days in jail. The time I spent in jail I should say was very blessed. I got closer to God. I started attending prayer meets and involved myself into creative activities like paintings."

Susairaj is convicted for destruction of evidence and had been sentenced to three years. She walked out of Byculla women's prison at 11.35am as she has already served the sentence having been in jail since her arrest in 2008.

‘I always take the stairs, not the elevator’ ...says actress Mahie Gill, who swears by her fitness regime which is a mix of exercise and yoga

My Exercise Regime
I workout almost everyday and do a mixture of cardio and yoga for one to one and a half hours. I jog on the treadmill for a minimum of 30 minutes. After that, I do yoga for at least half an hour that includes breathing exercise Pranayama, Surya Namaskar and various asanas. A practice that I diligently follow is that I always climb stairs rather than using an elevator.

My Problem Areas
I have a tendency to put on some flab on my stomach, thigh and arms.
I always make it a point to jog as it is helpful for my thighs and also for the arms.
For my tummy, I do stomach crunches.

My Strengths
Despite my stomach, thighs and arms being my problem areas, if I religiously workout for six days a week, then I do not need to worry.
My dedication to exercise takes care of it all.

My diet
I have a mix of apple, beetroot, carrot and amla juice daily. I generally have it early in the morning. Another must-have for me is green tea. I have a cup of green tea after every meal. So I have two to three cups. As for food, I do not eat oily or spicy food. My food contains salt for seasoning and turmeric for spice. Also, I avoid red meat and mostly consume a vegetarian diet. I drink lots of water everyday and do not eat after seven in the evenings.

Gul Panag Ties the Knot

Rumours that Purab Kohli is leaving his wife Yamini Namjoshi for Gul Panag can be now put to rest. The Turning 30 actress just got married to her long time boyfriend Rishi Attari yesterday in a gurudwara in Chandigarh.

Rajnikanth's triple role in RANA

Eros International Media Ltd (Eros International), India's largest integrated film studio and Ocher Studios Private Limited, Chennai have joined hands to co-produce RANA to be directed by K. S. Ravikumar who has in the past directed two super hit films of Rajinikanth - MUTHU and PADAYAPPA.

Scheduled to go on floor in March this year, RANA will be a live action magnum opus with Rajini playing triple role and will be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Music would be done by A R Rahman, Director of Photography would be Ratnavelu, Editing would be done by Antony. The technical and special effects director will be Soundarya Rajnikanth and Charles Darby of Eyeqube Studios, renowned visual effects luminary and an Emmy award winner will be the visual effects supervisor on the film. The film is scheduled to release in 2012.

Speaking on the development, Mr. Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International Media Ltd said, "We are extremely excited to join hands with Tamil industry's most popular super star Rajinikanth for RANA and this time audiences will be treated with their favourite actor donning a triple role in the film. RANA is going to be far different from any of the recent Rajni films, a complete live action magnum opus with loads of entertainment for his fans".

Ms. Soundarya Rajnikanth, Director of Ocher Studios Private Limited added, "We are very pleased to announce this partnership with Eros International for RANA. Katrina Kaif is no doubt the golden girl of Bollywood now. She has been credited to save Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan with her first ever item number ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’. The actress was offered to enact Hema Malini’s popular double role of Seeta Aur Geeta some time back but the remake project did not take off.

Now, the latest reports suggest that the actress has been offered to play double role in Dibakar Banerjee’s next project, which is yet untitled. Katrina was very excited to play double role because she has never done that earlier. But shelving of the remake of Seeta Aur Geeta devastated her dream. With this latest project, Katrina can now again hope to fulfill her dreams of playing double role.

According to a source, Katrina has been offered the role and she is keen to do that but she is just working out her dates for the project. The Barbie doll of Bollywood is thrilled to play double role for the first time in her acting career.

In one of her interviews, Katrina accepted doing double role for a film but the title of the project was not ensured.

It is an interesting coincidence that ‘Dream Girl’ Hema Malini did Seeta Aur Geeta when she was peak of her career and the same happened with Sri Devi when she did double roles for Chaalbaaz. Now, Katrina is also having best time in her career and she has got the opportunity to play double role.

It’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’ vs ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’ at box office

Film buffs are in for a treat this Christmas as choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan’s highly anticipated film ‘Tees Maar Khan’, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, hits the silver screen along with Ajay Devgn’s animation film ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’ this Friday.

Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya also returns with his new film ‘Isi Life Mein’ with debutants Sandeepa Dhar and Akshay Oberoi.

‘Tees Maar Khan’, produced by Twinkle Khanna, Shirish Kunder and Ronnie Screwvala with a budget of Rs.50 crore ($11 million), is a story about Tabrez Mirza Khan (Akshay) who steals, cons and cheats with such an audacity that none even gets the slightest hint about his deeds. His gang members include three others named Dollar, Soda and Burger.

International antique smugglers Johri Brothers (Raghu Ram and Rajiv Laxman) ask Tabrez once to perform the biggest heist of his life. They ask him to steal antiques worth Rs.500 crore from a heavily guarded moving train.

The film’s music is already a rage, with Katrina making fans groove to her item song ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’.

The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Raghu Ram, Rajiv Laxman, Arya Babbar and Aman Verma. It also has special appearences by Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.

‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’, featuring Ajay Devgn and Kajol, would be India’s first live action-animation film. It is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Krishika Lulla and distributed by Eros International.

Directed by Kireet Khurana, the film tells the story of film star Aditya (Ajay) who has all the success he ever dreamt of. He is married to Priya (Kajol) and has two kids Kabeer and Raima. He might be a superstar but his children want him to be hero in real life rather than in reel.

Aditya gets one such opportunity when he finds himself in Toonpur, the land of his children’s favourite cartoons, where he has to fight Toonasurs (demon toons) to save Devtoons (good toons).

The film also stars Tanuja, Mukesh Tiwari, Sanjay Mishra and Delnaaz Paul. Khurana has won five National Awards for short animation films and has directed almost 400 commercials and ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’ is his first feature film.

While Ajay and Kajol team up for this film after two years, it also reunited the mother-daughter duo of Kajol and Tanuja 18 years after ‘Bekhudi’, which was the launch vehicle for Kajol in the film industry.

After his last film ‘Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi’, Sooraj Barjatya is returning with his new production venture ‘Isi Life Mein’ with two newcomers Sandeepa and Akshay, who is actor Vivek Oberoi’s cousin.

Produced under Rajshri Productions and directed by Vidhi Kasliwal, Barjatya’s niece, the story of the film revolves around the journey of a small town girl Rajnandini, who is not allowed to dream and lead a life according to her own wishes.

Somehow she takes admission to a Mumbai college and meets Vivaan and his gang of friends, who make her believe that she has the right and the capability to accomplish her dreams. It’s then that things start changing for her.

Whether Christmas will set cash registers ringing for all three of these films is yet to be seen.

Koffee With Karan: Shahid Kapoor Priyanka Chopra – Keeping The Guessing Game Intact

Koffee with Karan 3 had the cute couple Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in conversation with the uber cool Karan Johar this Sunday, making the show quite a treat for the viewers.

The most amazing questions were asked by Karan by the deadly duo kept dodging them with ease and smartly avoiding any kind of extra information about their relationship status to get leaked out through their answers. Thus the two were successful in keeping the guessing game intact.

At every round KJO tried his best to get the secret out of them but the couple very cleverly avoided any sort of controversial answers, thereby making the host a confused onlooker who was trying his level best to figure out what exactly was brewing between the two.

Of course the first answer that Piggy Chops gave about getting her accent from the same place that Kareena’s boyfriend had got his from is stale news, but apart from that her other very interesting answer about she being very important in Kareena’s life as Kareena kept saying something or the other about her from time to time was quite amusing.

Shahid Kapoor was more balanced with his very well balanced answers and he certainly was a far more matured Shahid than what one had seen in the earlier episodes of the show’s former seasons.

The rapid fir round had Shahid Kapoor answering all the questions pretty wittily which again was something which Priyanka stumbled at ,only to lose out on winning the hamper.

Thus, as Shahid was handed over the hamper by Karan, there was quite a baby tug of war between the couple. After Priyanka was caught taking a peek at the goodies in the hamper, she did admit that anyway she would ultimately get the hamper as the goodies were of no use to Shahid. Now as KJO pointed it out this was some indication that there was something brewing between the two- or was it? We wonder!

Was Sonakshi photoshopped or covered up?

Just when Sonakshi Sinha had set tongues wagging with rumours of a racy photoshoot for the cover of Maxim magazine's December issue, wearing naught but a barely-there bikini, it has now emerged that the cover that has actually hit the stands features her in a black dress instead.

The Maxim cover, with Shotgun Sinha's daughter wearing the green and white striped bikini, had been doing the rounds on the Internet.

It had apparently even shocked papa Shatrughan. But nowhere in the Maxim issue, which also has a sensuous photoshoot of her in a series of black and gray dresses and wraps, is she featured in a bikini.

So where is the cover picture from? Is it a fake, or was it withdrawn just before the magazine went into print? One theory says she did do the bikini shoot, but got cold feet under family pressure, consequently withdrawing it.

The other argument, in keeping with Sonakshi's retort to the mystery picture, is that it is cleverly photoshopped. "It's not me," she has said.

Just when the media was busy reporting on the 'bold move' by the Dabangg girl, who had earlier said she'd "never wear a bikini as she felt no need to expose," this mystery picture has left everyone even more curious.

Looking at the bikini picture, it's hard not to notice that the picture is airbrushed to show a svelte body form. While it is a known fact that bikini pictures of celebrities are often touched up, this one has her looking particularly thin for someone of Sonakshi's broad frame.

The picture spread inside the issue that has hit the stands has Sonakshi posing at clever angles, wearing clothes that are rather forgiving and flattering.

Why would she wear such clothes if she really had a bikini body to flaunt? While Sonakshi has lost a lot of weight (30 kg in one year by her own admission), she is no bikini-bod.

Ever since she first walked the runway in 2008, she has been known as a big girl with curves. Something she is also heard taking pride in. It maybe a while yet till we get to see Sonakshi's bold avatar.

Bigg Boss 4: Khali Stripped off Captaincy As A Punishment

December 15, 2010: The Bigg Boss 4 house has suddenly turned into a house where everything’s going anti clock wise. People who couldn’t just stand each other like Ashmit Patel and Shweta Tiwari are made partners in the weekly tasks and Khali the great who was the captain for the second time was stripped off the title by Bigg Boss due to Khali’s inadequacy in handling the captain ship rules and regulations properly.

Thus, this week Bigg Boss has strictly punished Khali and he has to cook for the entire house, clean the utensils and the worst part being that Khali can only have his meals after all the inmates have finished off with theirs.

Well, initially this order from Bigg Boss did come across as quite shocking for all the inmates, but gradually everyone started feeling that perhaps Khali did deserve the punishment as he had not been doing any chores in the house.

Khali on his part was seen doing all that Bigg Boss had ordered him to do and the rest of the inmates were seen sitting in groups discussing his predicament. Sameer Soni who had been quite vocal about his grudges regarding Khali’s non participation in the household chores was unusually quiet on this issue ever since Bigg Boss had announced that Khali was punished.

Now it remains to be seen whether Khali, the WWE champion is able to keep up to Bigg Boss’ expectations and thereby is able to win back his title as the captain of the house or he gets into deeper trouble for not being able to cope up with his workload!

Kannada actress Jayamala chargesheeted in Sabarimala case

Kottayam (Ker), Dec 14 (PTI) Kerala Police today filed a chargesheet against Kannada film actress Jayamala, four years after she made a controversial claim that she had touched the idol of Lord Ayyappa at the famous Sabarimala temple in violation of the hill shrine custom.
50-year old Jayamala has been listed as the third accused after astrologer Parappanangadi Unnikrishnan and his Bangalore-based aide Raghupathy for their alleged "deliberate and malicious act to outrage" religious sentiments by hatching a conspiracy involving her.
The chargesheet was filed in the first class judicial magistrate court at Ranni in Pathanamthitta District.
The ''revelation'' by the actress in June 2006 raised a storm. A crime branch probe found that it was only a "conspiracy" hatched by the astrologer and his aide.
The chargesheet said the accused were involved in a deliberate and malicious act intended to outrage religious feelings under section 295 of Indian Penal Code.
Jayamala, a former president of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, had claimed she had in her prime youth entered the sanctum sanctorum and touched the idol of the presiding deity.
Women in the 10-50 age group are barred from entering the temple.
She had faxed her claim to the temple administration office when an astrological examination of the conduct of the temple affairs, known in local parlance as "deva prasnam", was on by Unnikrishnan.
The astrologer had claimed then that the poojas and rituals of the shrine had not been performed with due sanctity and dedication by priests and there were even signs of the idol having been touched by a woman.
It was after this that Jayamala made the claim that she had visited the temple when she was just 18 and she wanted to do penance for that.
With the incident leading to a storm, the government had then ordered a crime branch probe.
The inquiry, as part of which the actress was questioned in Bangalore, concluded that her claim of having been pushed by the rushing devotees into the idol chamber appeared "most illogical and implausible".
According to the investigators, the whole episode appeared to be a conspiracy to buttress the claim of the astrologer about the poor state of temple affairs.
